Late rally propels Illini baseball past Bradley

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – Illinois baseball picked up its 27th win of the year on Tuesday.

The Illini beat Bradley in their final regular season non-conference game of the year.

Each team managed to score in the opening inning. By the end of the sixth inning, the game was level at three. However, Dan Hartleb’s squad sparked a comeback in the bottom of the seventh by scoring three runs to pull ahead.

BU got one back in the eighth but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Vytas Valincius, Jack Zebig, Coltin Quagliano and Will Johannes all drove in runs for Illinois.

Ryan Daly secured the win, pitching five innings and conceding only two runs. Four relievers from the Illini pitched an inning apiece, and collectively, the home team, Orange and Blue, limited the opponents to just five hits during this mid-week matchup.

Illinois improves to 27-19 on the year with the victory.

Next: U of I hosts UCLA for a three-game weekend series which will be the final home games of the season for Hartleb and Co.
