PHOTOS: Springfield fire crews respond to burning, rolled-over vehicle

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The Springfield Fire Department respond to a vehicle that had flipped on its side and caught on fire on Friday.

The incident occurred in the morning around the intersection of 6th and Monroe. Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered that a car had collided with a building and also caused damage to a gas meter. Ameren was called to the location to help in turning off the gas main.

According to the Springfield Police Department, after speaking with the driver, it was revealed that they had swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle. This maneuver resulted in the car striking the building and gas meter.

No significant injuries were reported from the crash, though the driver received a couple of tickets, as stated by the police. No arrests were made in connection with the incident.
