SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities are on the hunt for a man suspected of attacking a woman on the Seminole Wekiva Trail on Monday afternoon, as reported in a press statement.
The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. when a woman, walking on the trail near State Road 434 and Douglas Avenue, was confronted by a stranger on an electric scooter, deputies reported.
The statement explained that the assailant pulled the woman towards the wooded area adjacent to the trail. Fortunately, her cries for help were heard by a passerby who discovered her and alerted emergency services.
Deputies are trying to locate a suspect described as a Black male in his mid-20s, standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 feet tall, with short hair styled in twists at eye level. At the time of the incident, he wore a white baseball cap and athletic shorts, and it is believed he initially had on a red shirt but removed it before fleeing.
“Expect an increased law enforcement presence in the vicinity as the investigation progresses,” stated the deputies in the release. They also advised those who walk, jog, bike, or exercise outdoors to remain vigilant and observe their environment closely.
