WITT, Ill. (WCIA) — The Witt Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a man trapped under a tractor on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency responders were sent to the intersection of N. Main St. and W. Raymon Ave. at 1:48 p.m. The fire department also requested assistance from a medical helicopter, along with help from Nokomis and Filmore Fire Protection Districts. Initially, the fire department was uncertain about the tractor’s size, the victim’s condition, or the extent of the individual’s entrapment.

As they proceeded to the site, responders learned that the person was no longer trapped under the tractor. Upon arrival, the fire crews discovered the man conscious but injured; they asked for the helicopter to land in a nearby hayfield.

The Nokomis-Witt area ambulance service transported the victim to the landing zone.

No further information is available at this time.
