An investigation has commenced following the death of an inmate at Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain City, Tennessee, on Tuesday.

A representative from the Tennessee Department of Correction verified to News Channel 11 that the inmate passed away early Tuesday morning.

The spokesperson stated that the case is currently under investigation.
