The Jacksonville Jaguars organized a ‘mock scrimmage’ event on August 1 at Everbank Stadium as part of their ongoing preparations for the 2025 season.
The spotlight was largely on rookie Travis Hunter. As the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, he has become quite popular among fans. During warm-ups, a group of young fans eagerly called out his name, hoping he would come over and sign autographs for them.
In the game, Hunter showcased his versatility by playing on both offense and defense. He spent all of the first quarter and part of the second on the offensive side. Later, he switched to a white jersey to participate on defense in the second quarter. The team extended the second quarter several times by adding more time to the clock.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a notable performance, throwing three touchdowns along with one interception. The first two touchdowns were caught by last year’s impressive rookie, Brian Thomas Jr. The final touchdown was hauled in by tight end Brenton Strange as the team practiced their two-minute offensive drill.
The final score, according to the Jaguars, was 17-9 in favor of the teal team.
