Jason Kelce is opening up about the weight loss journey he’s been on since retiring from the NFL in March 2024.

Jason Kelce, a former Philadelphia Eagles center, shared on the May 14 episode of the “New Heights” podcast with his brother Travis Kelce that he has lost around 25 pounds in the last year.

“I’m about 270 right now, I think,” Jason Kelce told the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.

“270? That’s what I played last year. You could play tight end,” Travis Kelce teased.

“I can’t. No, my ankles, knees, and back won’t let me. It’s getting bad,” Jason revealed. “I don’t know if it’s that when you retire mentally, your body follows suit physically because as I’m attempting to lift weights, I keep injuring my muscles.”

In a TikTok interview with Us Weekly on May 13, Jason also discussed his weight loss ambitions, noting that he aims not to drop below 250 pounds.

The ESPN analyst’s updates about his weight loss journey come less than two months after he revealed on the March 26 episode of “New Heights” that fellow NFL retiree Beau Allen contacted him to suggest the two compete in a weight loss challenge.

Allen suggested the pair compete for three months to see who could lose the most body fat while gaining muscle.

To prepare for the challenge, Jason Kelce underwent a body composition scan, which produced surprising results.

“There is a lot of fat in there!” the dad of four said of his body at the time, adding, “It’s kind of embarrassing seeing your body broken down like this.”

The test showed that the retired athlete, whose weight was just under 277 at the time, had 207 pounds of muscle mass on his frame and 58.7 pounds of fat, which, he noted, is “exactly 21% body fat.”

“That’s a lot of fat,” said Jason Kelce as Travis Kelce laughed.

The former football pro first opened up about his weight loss journey during an interview with GQ published in June 2024.

He revealed at the time that he’d already dropped 18 pounds — from 295 pounds down to 277 pounds — since retiring months before.

“I don’t want to get too small,” he told the publication at the time. “I I think a lot of guys, especially offensive linemen, they lose too much weight, and then they look like bobbleheads because their neck gets so small, but their head stays the same size.”

Jason Kelce said his goal was to get down to 260 or 250 pounds.

“For me, I feel like for some reason, 250 to 260 feels like I’ll be still big and be happy with the way I look without having a six-pack. But I’ll still be able to have that stature a little bit,” he explained.

“It’s hard to imagine another nearly 20 pounds coming off, being honest with you,” he added. “But my back already feels better. My knees already feel better. So another 20 pounds hopefully will make that much more adept at playing with my children.”
