Jazz benefit raises funds for Camp Lighthouse

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WASV) — Local jazz greats came together Sunday to play for a good cause.

The legendary Teddy Adams performed on stage with his band, accompanied by the soulful Huxsie Scott, during the 7th annual benefit concert for Camp Lighthouse.

Camp Lighthouse offers every child the opportunity to enjoy the excitement of summer camp. The funds generated provide support for the camp’s programs, organized each summer by the Martin de Porres Society. News 3’s Kim Gusby was the mistress of ceremonies for the event.

Board member Lillian Grant-Baptiste expressed hope that attendees understood the value of supporting such activities. “All of [the proceeds] will go back into that camp. Our young people need it as a bridge from the summer back into the academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together.”

The event was held at Congregation Mickve Israel again this year.
