JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Authorities in Johnson City are actively investigating a shooting incident that reportedly unfolded early Sunday morning on North State of Franklin Road.

The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) detailed in a statement that the shooting occurred at a local Waffle House around 4 a.m. Officers who responded to the scene found an individual in the parking lot suffering from “multiple gunshot wounds.”

The wounded victim was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention and was listed in stable condition as of 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The release further mentioned, “The JCPD Criminal Investigations Division has identified a person of interest and is actively searching for this individual. Investigators consider the situation isolated and do not believe there is a wider threat to public safety.”

The police department has emphasized that the investigation is still in progress and has assured that further details will be disclosed as they become available.
