Jefferson Co. man arrested in Virginia for Attempted Abduction, Kidnapping

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. () – On Tuesday, July 29th, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia announced an arrest linked to an online child exploitation investigation.

A man from Jefferson County journeyed to a remote area in Washington County, Virginia, under the impression that he would meet a juvenile female to transport her back to Georgia.

Upon arrival in Washington County, the individual was apprehended without incident and faced charges including Taking Indecent Liberties with Children and Attempted Abduction and Kidnapping.

He is currently being held without bond at the Abingdon Southwest Regional Jail.

Detectives in Virginia are continuing the investigation with law enforcement partners at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

William Phillip Stevens, aged 35, from Louisville, was charged with 40 counts of Taking Indecent Liberties with Children and one count of Attempted Abduction and Kidnapping.
