SAVANNAH, Ga. — On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) revealed that the actress, dancer, and singer Jennifer Lopez will be awarded the Virtuoso Award at the 28th annual SCAD Savannah Film Festival (SAVFF).

Lopez is receiving this honor for her upcoming performance in the musical “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” which is slated for release in October. Her role is already sparking Oscar predictions.

Christina Routhier, the festival’s senior executive director, shared with THR, “We’re exceptionally honored to have Jennifer Lopez in Savannah. “Her portrayal in ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ is groundbreaking, and welcoming an artist of her international prominence is a noteworthy moment for both our festival and our community. Her unparalleled influence in the entertainment world makes this celebration of her diverse career with The Hollywood Reporter a true highlight. It’s also an exceptional chance for SCAD’s students in acting, film, and television. Lopez’s journey embodies key lessons in adaptability, perseverance, and creative vision. Such moments not only ignite inspiration but also elevate our entire curriculum, highlighting the outstanding talent and pursuit of excellence that represent SCAD.”

Though Lopez is attending SAVFF for the first time, it isn’t her initial visit to the Hostess City. She tied the knot with actor Ben Affleck at his Georgia estate in Riceboro in August 2021.

The 28th SCAD Savannah Film Festival will take place from Saturday, Oct. 25, through Saturday, Nov. 1.
