2nd Annual Port Wentworth Hispanic Festival

PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. ()– While other towns decided to cancel their events, Port Wentworth proceeded with its 2nd annual “La Fiesta Hispanic” Latin festival on Friday. The city implemented extra security measures and had additional police presence to ensure the festival was safe for all attendees.

“Considering the current climate around immigration and related issues,” said Steve Davis, City Manager of Port Wentworth, “we want to ensure the security and well-being of our residents and festival guests.”

The event showcased an array of vendors, delicious food, and live performances. Its primary goal was to celebrate the contributions, cultures, and resilience of the Hispanic and Latin community in Port Wentworth.

“America’s strength lies in its diversity,” expressed Davis. “This event gives us a chance to celebrate that. Latin residents in Port Wentworth can share their dance, music, and cuisine with those who might not be Hispanic or Latino. It’s an opportunity to appreciate and enjoy each other’s cultures.”

Festivalgoers expressed excitement when they learned the event would go on as scheduled.

“We’re here to celebrate Hispanic culture,” a festival attendee shared with News 3. “Being half Puerto Rican, this festival is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the music and tastes of Latin culture.”

“We always follow the food trucks and our cuisine because we can’t live without the food from home,” another festivalgoer said.

Port Wentworth city officials said they hope to continue the tradition and hold this festival again next year.
