JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — Magic was in the Jonesborough air Saturday night as Tennessee’s oldest town celebrated Harry Potter’s birthday.
The magical ambiance of the Wizardly World of Jonesborough transformed the downtown into a bustling Diagon Alley, featuring over 20 vendors offering genuine Harry Potter goods such as butterbeer, Fizzing Whizzbees, and Liquid Luck.
Visitors roamed the area dressed in school robes, stopping by the Oak and Thistle Wand Shop, the Crooked Broom Tavern, and Hagrid’s Hut. As it wasn’t chilly enough for Hedwig’s arrival, she dispatched other owls to partake in the festivities.
Kaylie Vaughn (Dobby), a resident of Johnson City, said that the guests at the celebration are all “supportive and friendly” towards one another.
“I love it. Honestly, there’s a bit of magic for everyone here. Even if you’re not a massive Harry Potter enthusiast, there’s plenty to enjoy.”
Vaughn said that at Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat would place her in the Hufflepuff House. She rated the butterbeer a ten-out-of-ten.
