NEW YORK – Former Vice President Kamala Harris will have a memoir out in September on her historic presidential run.
The book is called “107 Days,” the length of her abbreviated campaign, and will be published by Simon & Schuster on Sept. 23.
“A little over a year ago, I announced my candidacy for President of the United States,” Harris stated in a video message on Thursday. “I spent 107 days traveling across America, championing our future — marking the briefest presidential campaign in recent times. After stepping down, I’ve devoted considerable time to looking back on those moments. With honesty and introspection, I’ve crafted a behind-the-scenes narrative of that experience. I truly believe there’s a benefit in sharing my observations, lessons, and what is necessary to move ahead.”
Simon & Schuster CEO Jonathan Karp did not divulge specific topics Harris will address, including her views on concerns about President Joe Biden’s capability for office. Nonetheless, Karp noted that Harris “covers everything we hope she would.”
After being defeated by Republican Donald Trump last November, Harris led the Democratic campaign following Biden’s withdrawal last July due to a poor debate performance. Harris had the chance to become the first female and woman of color president.
She announced on Wednesday that she will not run for California governor in 2026.
Simon & Schuster is calling the book a “page-turning account,” with ”surprising and revealing insights.”
“Kamala Harris stands as a unique American figure,” Karp remarked in a statement. “‘107 DAYS’ vividly portrays the complexities of a presidential run better than nearly anything I’ve encountered. It is among the finest political nonfiction works Simon & Schuster has released. It offers a firsthand addition to historical record and is an astonishing tale.”
Financial terms for “107 Days” were not disclosed. In 2019, Penguin Books published Harris’ “The Truths We Hold: An American Journey.”
