OSAGE COUNTY (KSNT) — In a coordinated effort, Kansas wildlife officials and local police recently collaborated to locate a missing hunter in Osage County.

On October 12th, Kansas game wardens were alerted to assist in the search for a hunter who had not returned from the Melvern Wildlife Area. Partnering with Osage County deputies and other members of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, they initiated a search for the overdue individual.

According to Jesse Gehrt of the KDWP, the hunter had set out in the morning to pursue deer but failed to come back home. Growing worried, his family contacted authorities in the afternoon to seek assistance.
