BOISE, Idaho () A DoorDash driver has told police she saw Bryan Kohberger at the scene of the Idaho quadruple murders just minutes before four University of Idaho students were killed, according to body camera footage that surfaced ahead of a key court hearing.
The woman, 44, identified only as M.M. in court documents, made the statements during an unrelated DUI arrest in Pullman, Washington. During questioning at the police station, she told officers she would have to “testify in a big murder case” because she was “the DoorDash driver.”
“I saw Bryan there. I parked right next to him,” the 43-year-old woman said in the interrogation footage, referring to the defendant charged in the November 2022 killings of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin.
The revelation comes before opening statements are scheduled to begin Aug. 11 in Kohberger’s trial. The woman delivered food to victim Kernodle at approximately 4 a.m., about 10 minutes before the murders occurred at the off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho.
The body camera footage was discovered by online investigators and journalists after being posted on YouTube.
Kohberger’s defense team has been seeking delays due to media leaks and pretrial publicity.
Prosecutors have built their case around DNA evidence, cellphone data, surveillance video and witness descriptions. An eyewitness previously described seeing a man with bushy eyebrows leaving the scene.
Questions remain about the credibility of the DoorDash driver’s account, given that she was arrested for DUI and appeared emotional during the police interview.
The defense team is expected to address media leaks and seek trial delays during a hearing Thursday. The judge has previously indicated he may appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the source of information leaks in the high-profile case.
Kohberger, a former doctoral student in criminology at Washington State University, has pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary. He could face the death penalty if convicted.
