THOMSON, Ga. — The 9th Annual Golf Tournament is set to take place on Thursday, June 5, at the Belle Meade Country Club in Thomson, Georgia. This year’s event will feature a special homage to the 50th anniversary of Lee Elder’s groundbreaking participation in The Masters as the first Black golfer.

The tournament also honors Augusta National’s Black caddies—Henry Brown, Jessie Ross, and Henry “Jnox” McClendan.

Participants will enjoy a four-person best ball (Captain’s Choice) format, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Late registration is open from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. To take advantage of the early bird rate, entrants can pay $90 by May 26; the fee increases to $125 afterward, including the day of the tournament. Early registrants will receive an additional benefit of one entry to the Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History.

A reception will be held the evening before, Wednesday, June 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the museum.

Space is limited to the first 88 players, and meals will be sponsored by Wife Saver.

All proceeds support renovations to the museum’s Administrative House. To register, call 404-488-3207 or visit LucyCraftLaneyMuseum.com.
