AUGUSTA, Ga. () — Augusta is set to host a vibrant gathering that celebrates the arts, culture, and literature, aptly named Le Cafe: An Afternoon of Culture, Art and Literary Experience. Scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, the event will be held at the Greater Mount Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, with tickets priced at a modest $10.

The organizers aim to foster community connections while highlighting the talents of both local and visiting creatives. “A few of us who are passionate about art wanted to create a space that not only connects with the community but also offers a platform for self-expression and mutual listening, ultimately benefiting everyone involved,” explained Kim Gaines.

The event will evoke the charm of a French café, complete with espresso, cozy coffee tables, and spaces for intimate conversations. Attendees will enjoy presentations from rising artist Shannon Bush and acclaimed author and artist Karen Buster. Additionally, Russell Joe Brown will engage the audience with discussions and musical performances.

“This event is a passion project for me, and the women involved bring something truly special,” Gaines remarked. “We’re inviting artisans from both near and far to share their stories and experiences, and I believe everyone will find it truly enriching.”

Organizer Lurelia Hardy highlighted the event’s intimate atmosphere, which allows guests to engage closely with the artists. “Attendees will have the opportunity to view the art, explore the books, and get them signed. It’s a chance to connect personally with the creators,” Hardy noted.

All funds raised will support outreach initiatives at the host church. Gaines emphasized the community-driven nature of the event, saying, “We’re not in it for personal gain. The church has graciously provided the venue, and we want to give back by contributing to their outreach efforts.”
