In Leesburg, Florida, a Lake County deputy fatally shot a man identified as Timotheus Reed on Saturday, following a reported stabbing incident, according to authorities.

Deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Leesburg Police Department, responded to an emergency call at approximately 6:19 a.m. on April 12. The call detailed a stabbing on the 2400 block of Montclair Road, where the victim had sustained multiple stab wounds.

Witnesses at the scene guided law enforcement officers toward the direction in which the alleged suspect had fled. Shortly after, a deputy encountered Reed and, during the confrontation, shot him, officials reported.

Reed was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities confirmed.

In accordance with standard protocol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will conduct an investigation into the deputy-involved shooting. Meanwhile, the deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave.

Officials noted that no law enforcement officers were injured during the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
