LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A Lake County startup is aiming to keep people safe through a simple yet effective product.

Scan ID 365 simplifies the process of sharing medical and emergency contacts, especially in situations where you may be unable to communicate, such as during an accident that leaves you unconscious.

“Scan ID 365 is a system designed for emergency preparedness,” stated Daniel White, the President and CEO of Scan ID. “In situations where you cannot speak, you need an alternative to convey critical information. This system delivers that information to responders when you’re unable to communicate.”

Subscribers of Scan ID 365 receive a sheet containing four stickers that can be affixed to various surfaces like helmets, bikes, wallets, or cell phones.

Each sticker has a QR code on it with a personalized access code that takes you directly to the person’s profile with the medical information and emergency contacts they’ve provided.

“It’s about your medications and maybe your allergies, maybe your medical conditions, and especially your emergency contacts like who to call,” White said.

Users are able to go back in at any point and update their information and also have the option to order more stickers if they need more than four.

White said the startup was created after he and his friends experienced a tragedy of their own when their friend was hurt and eventually died in a dirt-biking accident back in October.

White said it left a feeling of helplessness when they couldn’t answer the first responders’ questions about their friend.

“This, you know, horrible situation turned even worse because now we couldn’t answer questions for a friend and now we don’t even know how to contact his wife,” White said.

The stickers aren’t just being used for dirt biking. According to the company’s website, it could be used to help construction workers, cruise ship employees and passengers, kids on school field trips and more.

White said he never imagined people finding so many applicable situations for their product.

“I’m super happy to realize that it can help so many more people than I ever imagined,” White said. “I was looking at from this little perspective, you know, and all these people are opening in my eyes.”
