UNICOI COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A ceremony celebrating the reopening of the Interstate 26 bridges in Erwin will take place Monday at 10 a.m.
Nearly a year has passed since the severe flooding from Hurricane Helene caused extensive damage to the bridges, severely interrupting travel in the region for multiple months.
The bridges fully reopened in both directions on Aug. 27.
Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Commissioner Will Reid and various federal, state and local officials are scheduled to speak at the ceremony.
The ceremony will be live-streamed on WJHL.com starting at 10 a.m.
