AUGUSTA, Ga. () — She turned a birthday request into a business, and now she’s lighting up Augusta one candle at a time.

It all began with a candle party. “My oldest daughter wanted a candle party,” Sabrina Winfrey shared. “At that time, I ran a business called Unique Baskets, where I crafted gift baskets for various occasions.”

Winfrey decided to explore her creativity, and something clicked. “I thought, let me experiment. We ended up having a wonderful party, and it evolved into a hobby. While I was working, I’d bring candles to the office and ask colleagues, ‘How do you like this one? How about that one?’ That’s how it all began.”

That initial spark blossomed into Unique Candle Designs. She now creates candles, body sprays, soaps, wax melts, and shea butters, all of which are handcrafted. Many products are inspired by her best-selling fragrance. “My Georgia Peach line is my top seller,” she explained. “I produce Georgia Peach candles, shea butter, body spray, and even hand sanitizer — it’s an excellent moisturizer.”

With more than 200 fragrances to choose from, Winfrey also custom blends products to match what her customers like. “I just play with a lot of fragrances,” she said. “A lot of my customers tell me what they like — solemn fragrances, lavender — and I go from there.”

She says she can make about 50 candles in four hours, and teaches classes for birthdays, anniversaries, date nights, and more.

If you’d like to book a candle class, you can give her a call at 706-836-8571. You can also go to her shop at 3084 Deans Bridge Road in Augusta.
