CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — A delightful surprise unfolded at the State Farm Center when a cherished local music icon made an unexpected appearance alongside two legendary bands.

Known for his soulful voice and vibrant performances throughout the Midwest, Candy Foster is a well-loved figure in the Champaign-Urbana music scene. Despite his illustrious career, Foster continues to enjoy live performances as an audience member. Recently, he accepted an invitation from friends to attend a concert featuring the Four Tops and The Temptations, two of his all-time favorite groups. Little did he know, the evening held an unexpected twist — he would find himself center stage, thrilling the audience.

Having grown up listening to these iconic bands, Foster was ecstatic about the chance to share the spotlight with them, especially at the age of 87. The experience not only rekindled fond memories but also made him feel at home among the enthusiastic crowd.

Reflecting on the night, Foster expressed his joy: “What truly uplifted me was the response from the audience at Champaign’s State Farm Center,” he shared. “A musician told me today that the ovation I received was even bigger than the show’s.”
