CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man from Robinson has been apprehended and faces over two dozen charges related to a large-scale firearm theft case in rural Crawford County.
Brandon Williams, aged 37, from Robinson, was taken into custody and formally charged on August 21st by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office with the support of Crawford County States Attorney Cole Shaner.
Authorities report that around 20 firearms were stolen. Deputies have spent numerous hours attempting to recover the stolen firearms and investigating the theft that transpired in rural Oblong, a locale within Crawford County.
Williams remains in custody and is formally charged as follows:
- Count- 1, Unlawful Sale or Delivery of Firearms, Class X Felony (knowing sold not
less and not more than 20 firearms).
- Count- 2, Gunrunning, Class X Felony.
- Count- 3-4, Theft (More than $10,000 and less than $100,000), Class 2 Felony.
- Count- 5, Burglary, Class 3 Felony.
- Counts- 6-30, Unlawful Possession of Stolen Firearms, Class 2 Felony
- Count- 31, Obstructing Justice, Class 4 Felony
The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) was deployed, and several members from other law enforcement agencies assisted in the search for the stolen firearms.
