Long County Sheriff's Office investigating Friday morning shooting

LONG COUNTY, Ga. () — The Long County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred early Friday morning in Ludowici.

Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles reported that deputies from the Long County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Ludowici Police Department, responded to a situation involving a man lying on the roadway on U.S. Highway 84 near the 100 block of Cypress St. at approximately 1:40 a.m.

Nobles explained that officers found the man with multiple gunshot wounds and promptly started administering lifesaving procedures until the arrival of emergency medical personnel.

The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was initially taken to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville and subsequently transferred to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah for further treatment. According to Nobles, he is currently in critical condition.

Detectives issued a warrant for Tshombe Leon Williams, 38, who was arrested at a residence on the 200 block of Anthony Drive NE without incident by the Special Response Team.

The investigation is ongoing and is not believed to be a random act. Nobles is asking for anyone with information on the case to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 912-545-2118.
