After being shot, man bites off part of suspect's finger in self-defense


SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 23-year-old man was shot on a trail Wednesday in Miramar.

The incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. in the area of 10000 Maya Linda Road, the San Diego Police Department said in a news release Thursday.

Authorities say the 23-year-old man suffered a grazing gunshot to his lower torso from a 47-year-old man.

After the shooting, the 23-year-old man bit the tip of the suspect’s middle finger off in self-defense during a physical struggle, per SDPD.

Both men were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Police recovered the firearm used in the shooting.
