() A man who assaulted two men outside a Planned Parenthood was sentenced to one year of home detention and three years of probation.

Patrick Brice was convicted of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment after assaulting two elderly men who were taking part in an anti-abortion protest outside a Planned Parenthood in Baltimore, Maryland, in 2023.

The protesters were reportedly praying outside the facility, and following an argument over abortion rights, Brice “snapped” and attacked the men.

Richard Schaefer was 73 at the time and suffered a serious eye injury, and Mark Crosby, 80 at the time of attack, was punched in the face and kicked in the head while trying to help Schaefer, according to police.

Anti-abortion protesters often gather on public sidewalks outside Planned Parenthood or other clinics that offer abortion as part of their services, attempting to proselytize to patients and convince them to avoid using the clinic’s services.

He was found guilty of two counts of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, but the jury could not agree on a first-degree assault charge on one of the men.
