BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has launched an investigation after recovering the body of a Maryville man from Fort Loudoun Lake on Friday morning.
Officials from the TWRA responded to a call about a potential drowning near George’s Creek around 11:18 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a man floating face down in the water with an unmanned boat circling close by.
The victim was recovered by the Blount County Rescue Squad, while wildlife officers brought the boat, a Ranger bass boat, to a stop.
The victim was taken to UT Medical Center in Knoxville, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified by TWRA as Terry Alexander, 63, of Maryville.
The TWRA said this is the 19th boating-related fatality on Tennessee’s waterways this year. The incident remains under investigation by the TWRA.
