(NEXSTAR) – Is McDonald’s holding out on us?
Last month, McDonald’s reintroduced Snack Wraps to their menu after a long hiatus, much to the delight of loyal fans craving this chicken favorite. In July, McDonald’s rolled out two versions of Snack Wraps featuring crispy chicken, yet several other beloved variations remain off the menu.
A Reddit user expressed their disappointment over the Big Mac Snack Wrap’s absence, a fan-favorite that had a half-burger patty and was available at McDonald’s in the early 2010s.

Another group of fans expressed missing the Angus Snack Wrap series, which came with half an angus burger patty and flavors like Chipotle BBQ Bacon or Mushroom & Swiss. Questions also arose as to why grilled chicken Snack Wraps, previously offered in several varieties, did not make a comeback.

One Reddit commentator remarked on their initial excitement about the Snack Wraps’ return until discovering the lack of a grilled option. “I don’t want a McCrispy strip in a wrap. Bring the original back!” they stated.
When McDonald’s CEO Chris Kemczyinski announced the return of the Snack Wrap variations, the specific wraps were not initially clarified. Ahead of the official launch, McDonald’s marketing efforts centered solely on the crispy chicken options.
There are possible explanations for the exclusion of certain versions. Recent statements by McDonald’s executives have highlighted plans to expand the McCrispy line, which began with sandwiches, to include chicken tenders. Given the historical popularity of the fried chicken Snack Wraps, McDonald’s might see the new McCrispy tender-based wraps as an opportunity to appeal to customers nostalgic for the original wraps.
A Reddit user who self-identified as a crew trainer for a Michigan restaurant also doubted that McDonald’s would ever bring back the grilled variety, claiming it took too long to cook and would get “old and rubbery pretty quick.”
A McDonald’s representative did not comment on why the grilled chicken variety was discontinued, nor why the Big Mac or Angus versions (which can be replicated with current McDonald’s ingredients) are not offered alongside the new Snack Wrap offerings.
If fans are that upset about it, though, they might want to speak up.
“Right now, we’re excited to bring fans the Ranch and Spicy Snack Wrap,” a representative for McDonald’s said. “We’ll continue listening to our fans when it comes to menu innovations.”
