TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Thursday who was wanted for murder in Miami.
As reported in a social media post, at 4:08 p.m., deputies were alerted by the Miami Police Department about a murder suspect thought to be located in Tampa.
Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle in a driveway in the 11000 block of Nicklaus Circle, where they deployed a drone to survey the area.
During this time, HCSO said the Miami Police Department was working on finalizing an arrest warrant for the suspect.
After obtaining the warrant, deputies moved in on the suspect, who was spotted exiting the garage as he headed toward the vehicle.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested Juan Antonio Vera, 60, without incident.
“This arrest exemplifies the excellent cooperation between agencies,” stated Sheriff Chad Chronister. “When an individual is wanted for a violent crime, it is a top priority for all involved, regardless of jurisdiction. I commend our deputies for their swift, coordinated actions and appreciate our strong partnership with the Miami Police Department in bringing dangerous persons to justice.”
Vera was taken by Hillsborough County deputies and booked into the Orient Road Jail, where he awaits extradition to Miami-Dade County.
