TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Near average September weather continues with temperatures warming into the low 90s this afternoon.

A few scattered showers might occur throughout the day; otherwise, expect hot and slightly more humid conditions. This overall pattern will persist into the weekend, with slightly increased rain chances on Friday and Saturday due to some more scattered storms, primarily in the afternoon.

Sunday is expected to be the drier of the weekend days, with temperatures around 93 degrees and a 30% chance of rain. Heading into the next week, moisture will return, raising the likelihood of rain again.

We are monitoring a tropical wave in the central Atlantic, which is gradually moving westward and showing signs of organization. It is likely to develop into a tropical depression over the coming days as it continues its westward path.

Forecast models are back and forth on where this will go and how strong it will end up, but and we have plenty of time to watch it.
