On Friday, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office unveiled new images that appear to show missing 9-year-old Melodee Buzzard disguised in a wig at a car rental agency before departing the state with her mother.

These surveillance photos provide the first glimpse of Melodee in over two years, adding crucial information to the ongoing investigation concerning her disappearance, which authorities have classified as high-risk.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that Melodee and her mother, Ashlee Buzzard, rented a vehicle and embarked on a cross-country journey on October 7, a week prior to school officials reporting Melodee missing due to her “extended absence.”
