LAKELAND HIGHLANDS, Fla. – A tragic accident occurred when a 24-year-old man from Lakeland lost his life while riding a motorcycle in Lakeland Highlands. The incident happened when he collided with an SUV that had turned into his path, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 8:46 a.m. Saturday on South Florida Avenue, near Shepherd Road, troopers said.
The initial crash report from the FHP indicates that the young man was heading north, located just north of Shepherd Road, while a 71-year-old woman from Seffner was driving a Nissan Rogue headed south on South Florida Avenue.
The woman turned left, entering the man’s path, and was struck by the motorcycle as a result, the report states.
The Lakeland man was taken to a hospital where he later died, troopers said.
