NEOGA, Ill. (WCIA) — Lake Mattoon Marina is adding a new feature to attract more visitors.

A new covered boat slip was installed last month, providing 20 available spaces for boat parking. According to the lake manager, this addition makes it easier for individuals who frequently transport their boats back and forth.

“This allows people to park their vehicle, walk to their boat, and head out on the water,” said lake manager John Wurtsbaugh. “Having easy access encourages more frequent visits to the lake. It can be challenging to launch a boat solo, but this setup simplifies the process.”

The covered boat slip is private with a keypad for renters. Wurtsbaugh also said their plan is to build more boat slips in the future.
