MELBOURNE, Fla. – While many Floridians are devoted to the homegrown grocery chain Publix, Trader Joe’s garners equal admiration from its fans.

As such, these fans may be excited to learn that Trader Joe’s is planning to open up several new stores — including one here in Central Florida.

That’s according to the company’s website, which unveiled the locations for the six new stores earlier this month.

According to the website, the new store is planned for 2221 Town Center Ave. in Melbourne, though the date for the grand opening has yet to be announced.

There were hints about the Melbourne location earlier this year when a building permit for the site was submitted, indicating that it will open at The Avenue Viera shopping center.

For many residents in Brevard County, the nearest Trader Joe’s outlets are all the way in Orlando or Winter Park, making routine grocery shopping less convenient.

So far, only six Trader Joe’s stores have been opened in the region, making this the seventh Central Florida location once it opens.

The chain’s massive popularity is no small feat. Earlier this year, Trader Joe’s tied with Publix as the most satisfying grocer among consumers nationwide, according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index.
