Northeast Tennessee first responders recognized for providing exceptional lifesaving care

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — Multiple Northeast Tennessee first responder agencies were recently honored at an award ceremony in Nashville.

At the annual Star of Life Awards event, the Children’s Emergency Care Alliance of Tennessee honors EMS personnel and other first responders for their exceptional lifesaving care provided to both adult and pediatric patients during crucial times.

“We are honored to celebrate the bravery, expertise, and empathy of Tennessee’s EMS professionals,” stated CECA TN Executive Director Natasha Kurth in a statement. “These heroes are there on the most challenging days of people’s lives, and this ceremony offers them the opportunity to witness the impact of their care directly.”

Below is a list of award recipients with local agencies in bold:

  • Region 1: Washington County/Johnson City EMS, Limestone Volunteer Fire Department
  • Region 2: AMR Knox, Karns Fire
  • Region 3: Meigs County Ambulance Service
  • Region 5: Vanderbilt LifeFlight 3, Clarksville Fire, Montgomery County EMS
  • Region 6: Vanderbilt LifeFlight 4, Perry County EMS, Perry County Dispatch, Perry County Sheriff’s Department
  • Region 7: Vanderbilt LifeFlight 8, Air Methods
  • Region 8: Shelby County Fire Department
  • Project ADAM Heart Hero Award: Portland West Middle School, Sumner EMS – Portland Team
  • Outstanding Achievement in Maternal and Neonatal Emergency Response: Roane County EMS
  • Mutual Aid Partnership Award: Washington County/Johnson City EMS, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, Unicoi County EMS, Erwin Police Department, Erwin Fire Department, TN Army National Guard Aviation, Unicoi EMA, Sullivan County EMS, Johnson City Fire Department, Bristol TN Fire Rescue, Region 1 RMCC, VSP Med-Flight II, Highlands Emergency Air Rescue and Transport
