Multiple agencies respond to vacant unit fire in Urbana

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Four local fire departments responded to a fire at a vacant unit in a single story duplex Wednesday morning in Urbana.

At around 5:19 a.m., the Carroll Fire Department was alerted to a fire alarm at 2002 Prairie View Drive. Upon getting there, they discovered that the actual fire was occurring at 2004 Prairie View Drive.

The fire erupted in an unoccupied unit of the single-story duplex. Thankfully, the occupants of the other half of the structure were able to evacuate safely, and there were no injuries reported.

Assistance from the Savoy Village Fire Department, Eastern Prairie Fire Protection District, and Edge-Scott Fire Protection District helped Carroll Fire extinguish the blaze. Further details are currently unavailable.

WCIA followed up with the Carroll Fire Department for more information but did not immediately hear back.
