OCALA, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol officers report they have apprehended a woman accused of fatally striking a man with her vehicle while he was pushing a grocery cart across State Road 200 in Marion County earlier this week, then leaving the scene.

Troopers arrested Somer Lynn Fox, 32, of Seminole on Friday. She’s facing charges of failing to stop/remain at the scene of a crash involving death.

The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of S.R. 200 and SW 60th Street, troopers said.

FHP states that Fox was operating a van, heading west in the right lane of S.R. 200, when she hit the pedestrian — a 76-year-old man from Ocala — as he was crossing the road heading north.

Officials said the van left the scene, where the pedestrian was later pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact FHP Cpl. John Gurrieri at 352-512-6641 or CrimeStoppers.
