ORLANDO, Fla. – This week, the Orlando Police Department apprehended an Ocoee nurse amid allegations of assaulting a patient last year.
As detailed in an arrest affidavit, officers were dispatched to AdventHealth on East Rollins Street back in January 2025 following a report from the victim claiming sexual assault.
The affidavit reveals that the patient, who had undergone a right leg amputation and had her left foot in a cast, identified her nurse as the perpetrator.
The victim recounted that the nurse, named as 46-year-old Abedinecho Katue, repeatedly visited her room throughout the night, complimenting her looks and expressing a desire to give her special attention.
She alleged that Katue inappropriately touched her under the guise of a medical checkup unrelated to her surgical procedure.
An officer noted, “I listened to the audio recordings, although the volume was low, making it hard to discern everything. In one recording, Katue is heard saying, ‘I can’t remember the last time I took care of such a young, black, beautiful girl like you.’”
A lengthy investigation ensued, and on Wednesday, Katue was arrested, jail records show.
He now faces charges of sexual battery on a physically incapacitated person, as well as lewd/lascivious battery on a disabled person. He is held on no bond.
