OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A 31-year-old man lost his life after being tasered during an altercation with Osceola County deputies early Sunday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

As per a news release, a patrol deputy observed Derik Bonet-Rodriguez running into and out of traffic in the westbound lanes of North Main Street near Vine Street at approximately 6:30 a.m.

Deputies said a fight broke out when they tried to detain Bonet-Rodriguez and the deputy shocked the man and placed him in handcuffs.

According to the release, Bonet-Rodriguez then became unresponsive and deputies started CPR.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.
