SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Oglethorpe Mall has reopened for the first time since the shooting on July 2nd.

Employees from several businesses inside the mall were seen walking through the doors Friday morning.

The Savannah Police Department (SPD) identified a woman whose death was linked to heart complications worsened by the incident involving gunfire. Olislene “Tina” Smith passed away around midnight on Friday.

SPD reports indicate that officers responded to the scene at roughly 5:41 p.m. following shooting reports and found three individuals with gunshot injuries. Chatham County EMS took the victims to Memorial Health University Medical Center for additional medical care.

EMS also transported three more people to Memorial for medical issues unrelated to gunshot wounds. The SPD evacuated the mall, which was subsequently cleared by the SPD SWAT team before the premises were handed back to mall management.

No arrests have been made as of Friday morning, however SPD will be working closely with the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days to determine appropriate charges and to whom.

The store hours for the Fourth of July at 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

will be live outside the mall in our evening newscasts.
