In Columbus, Ohio, a tragic discovery has prompted a police investigation into the death of a newborn found buried on the city’s North Side. The unsettling incident came to light on Monday afternoon, as authorities responded to a call in the 4000 block of Karl Road at around 1 p.m.

Police reports indicate that the call was made following reports about a teenage mother who had reportedly miscarried the previous week. It was alleged that the young mother had buried the infant’s remains on the property, leading officers to the site where they uncovered a shallow grave containing the body of the newborn. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed the infant’s death at the scene.

The investigation took a turn when homicide detectives traced the case to a residence on the West Side. There, two teenagers—a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl—were taken into custody. According to police, the teenage girl had given birth to the baby, a girl, at her home. Authorities believe the infant was born alive but died shortly thereafter.
