ORLANDO, Fla. – A woman was taken into custody on Monday after an “abandoned child” was found at an apartment complex, according to the Orlando Police Department.
In an arrest affidavit, police said they responded to the complex at 9301 Summit Centre Way on Monday morning after the child was spotted “walking aimlessly” around the area.
Upon arrival, police said they learned that the child had come from one of the nearby apartments, and after heading over there, they came into contact with the woman, 26-year-old Janicia Nestor.
As it turned out, Nestor had a warrant out for her arrest, police added.
“Ms. Nestor had an active warrant out of Orange County for aggravated battery with intent to cause great bodily harm,” the affidavit reads.
Another affidavit reveals that Nestor had been at a friend’s apartment back in June, but after drinking alcohol, she “became aggressive” and tried to attack several other guests.
When the friend attempted to intervene, Nestor reportedly punched the friend in her face before biting her middle finger, severing the fingertip just above the nail, investigators explained.
“After coming back into the apartment, Janicia picked up a kitchen knife and pointed it at (her friend) and threatened to fight her,” the affidavit continues. “Janicia left the location after (her friend) and several guests yelled at her to leave.”
As a result of the attack, Nestor was taken into custody on Tuesday, though police allowed her to first contact the child’s mother to come pick the child up.
