WEKIVA ISLAND, Fla. – An otter incident last week at Wekiva Island led to a person being hospitalized, according to Florida wildlife authorities.
The attack happened Thursday at Wekiva Island in Seminole County.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said an officer was called to the area for a report of an otter bite.
The victim was evaluated by Wekiva Island Fire and Rescue and taken to a hospital for treatment, the FWC said.
The FWC officer, in coordination with Wekiva Island management, searched for the otter but was unable to locate it.
There have been no further sightings of the otter, officials said on Tuesday.
