CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — After the completion of preliminaries in Class 2A and 3A, the schedule is set for the final day of competition at the IHSA State Track Finals.
The Unity Rockets were impressive in the 2A category, with senior Ashlyn Denney moving on in the 800-meter event and also contributing to the 4x400m relay. Three relay teams from the Rockets advanced to the finals.
Sacred Heart-Griffin took Heat 2 of the Class 2A 4x200m and automatically advanced to the finals with the fourth-best time.
Reigning state champion Madalyn Marx is ready to defend her title, having won her 400m dash heat for Mahomet-Seymour and entering the last day of competition as the top-seeded athlete.
The 3A relays saw exciting performances from Danville in the 4x100m and from Centennial in the 4x200m. Both groups advanced to finals.
