(NewsNation) — Over 30,000 wireless power banks have been recalled due to several incidents of them catching fire and exploding, as noted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The ESR HaloLock models in question — specifically 2G520, 2G505B, and 2G512B — were available for purchase on Amazon from September 2023 until they were pulled from the market recently. In the U.S., over 24,000 units were sold, with nearly 10,000 purchased in Canada.

“The lithium-ion battery in the recalled power banks can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers,” the CPSC said.

ESR received nine reports of these chargers igniting and exploding, prompting the recall. While no injuries occurred, the incidents resulted in about $20,000 in property damage, as stated by the CPSC.
