ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A spokesperson with Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport confirmed that a commercial plane had gone off the runway on Wednesday night.
Officials have confirmed that the flight that went off the runway was United flight #4339 inbound from Washington Dulles International Airport.
As per reports, a resource center for passengers and their families is available on the second floor of the Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport terminal, staffed by representatives from both the airline and the airport.
Officials say the situation occurred around 9:18 p.m. this evening and remains active.
No injuries have been reported, and passengers are in the process of being taken off the plane. They are being transported to the terminal by ROA and City Public Safety teams.
The airport has reported that all runways are closed.
According to reports, both the airport’s response team and Roanoke City authorities responded to the incident. A spokesperson mentioned that the plane is currently secure in the engineered arresting system.
