NEOGA, Ill. (WCIA) — One person was airlifted to a hospital Friday morning following a rollover crash near Neoga.

At around 7:07 a.m. on August 15, emergency teams from the Neoga Fire Protection District and EMS were dispatched to a reported vehicle rollover with ejection, situated just south of the junction of U.S. Route 45 and Illinois Route 121, east of Neoga.

On their way to the scene, responders learned that the person involved had managed to get out of the vehicle on their own and was not ejected as initially reported. Due to the accident’s severity, a medical helicopter was summoned to assist.

When fire crews arrived, they assisted EMS in preparing the patient for transport and managed traffic at the site. After the patient was handed over to the Air Evac Lifeteam 182, Neoga Fire and EMS left the location at 8:50 a.m.

The Neoga Police Department and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office also assisted during this incident.
