OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) Rumors have been circulating online regarding an Oklahoma City metro “serial killer” who has been cutting off victims’ faces; however, on Thursday, the Oklahoma City Police Department shut those down.

The department said on social media Thursday that they are aware of online posts that have claimed that there is a serial killer in Oklahoma City who has been cutting off the faces of their victims. They also say those rumors are “completely false.”

“We have no investigations or credible information to support these claims. Spreading unfounded rumors causes unnecessary fear and distracts from real public safety issues,” said the Oklahoma City Police Department on social media.

Officials also remind Oklahomans that if they have information regarding any criminal activity, call 911.
