MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — Austin Drummond, sought for involvement in a quadruple homicide in West Tennessee, was apprehended on Tuesday morning, as reported by law enforcement.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released the photo below of Drummond moments after he was taken into custody.

A shelter-in-place alert was issued for Jackson, Tennessee residents on Tuesday morning, following the Jackson Police Department’s announcement on social media about Drummond’s sighting.

“Due to the sighting of suspect Austin Drummond in the area of Saddlebrook Drive and Bridlepath Drive, please shelter in place immediately.”

Drummond had eluded capture since the previous Tuesday, after the discovery of four family members’ bodies in Lake County. His vehicle was located in Jackson on Friday.

During the shelter-in-place, police advised residents to keep windows and doors locked, remain indoors, and avoid unnecessary travel.

On Monday, Union University underwent a lockdown, with officers present in the area as the effort to locate Drummond persisted. Multiple officers were observed obstructing certain streets.

Police also said Drummond was seen Sunday night on a citizen’s camera system.

Authorities released two surveillance videos of Drummond dressed in camouflage attire, carrying a backpack and a rifle. In one of the videos, he is seen attempting to open a door.
